Merry Christmas Eve!
We are getting very close to the end of 2018, and I can’t think of a better time to highlight some of the season’s hottest trends–while they’re still piping hot! So if you get a little spending money or a nice gift card for Christmas, here are some great pieces you could invest in.
The Cold Shoulder
As you can see from the pictures above, this is one of my favorites, and I believe this trend is going to stay popular for the foreseeable future. They add a sort of relaxed element of sexy without really even being revealing. I’ll probably be wearing my cold-shoulder tops until they literally disintegrate.
Hoxton Boots
I am not 100% sure that Hoxton is the proper name for them, but this is what they look like. These short boots come in many colors/patterns, go with pretty much any outfit, and I see them everywhere. A pair of black ones is what I would most recommend, because black will be in style forever.
High-Waisted Pants/Shorts
I really like this trend. Not only are these items super cute, but they look good on several body types. When you buy the right size, they are extremely comfortable (and way better at concealing the “muffin top” than hip-huggers).
Long Cardigans
Cardigans have been a fall/winter must-have for a while, but I’ve noticed they’ve been getting longer recently. The cardigan that hangs below the knee is the hot ticket this season. Extra cozy. Extra comfy. All the more to love.
Overall Dresses/Rompers
Overalls are no longer the utilitarian garment of the farmer and fisherman. They have officially been taken over by the chic urban woman, and I am in love with them. Whether you prefer them in dress or romper form, you just can’t go wrong.
Crop-Top Sweaters
I’ll admit, it took me a minute to warm up to this one. It’s sort of an oxymoron, isn’t it? A crop-top that’s a sweater? My first thought was, “Well it’s not exactly keeping you warm…” But this trend has remained popular a lot longer than I expected, and I’m starting to get it.
For one thing, we should all know by now that looking cute isn’t always about practicality. If it’s crucial that you stay totally warm, this isn’t what you’re going to go for. This is what you wear when you’re wanting to achieve a certain aesthetic. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
For another thing, the days of women covering up their bodies in shame are dwindling away–thank God. So if your top shows a little peek of your tummy, well, yay! Wear it proudly. Let yourself feel good in your own skin. It’s excellent for your mental health.
Bonus: They’re perfect with high-waisted pants!
“Teddy Bear” Coats
These coats got their nickname from their texture. Don’t they look like they were made from teddy bears? Pretty cute, right? They have that cozy, fluffy look of fur or shearling, but of course they are completely faux. Not to mention, the neutral color is a classic and will go with literally anything. Win-win!
Lacy Camisoles
The basic cami is really a wardrobe essential, if you ask me. I prefer to have several, and in several different colors. But, a little to my surprise, camisoles have played a major role in fall/winter fashion this year. Especially lacy ones like the pictures above. They’re gorgeous under a cozy cardigan, and you can dress up the look by layering on two or three delicate necklaces. It’s a great way to seem effortlessly stylish.
The Classic Denim Jacket
To be honest, I’m not sure there was ever a time when this wasn’t in style… But it’s definitely in now. The great thing about denim is its durability. One quality jacket could potentially last forever, and it’s neutral enough to go with almost any look. Something I’ve noticed recently is that people are wearing these jackets with dresses and skirts a lot, like the above photo. I’m a big fan!
Over-Sized Sweaters
Big, large-knit sweaters are the thing to wear this winter. Bonus points if the sleeves are long enough to cover your hands and the hem hangs below your booty. What a fun thing to be in style! Cute and comfortable don’t always coincide, do they? But in these sweaters, you’ll be entirely cozy and unrestricted, and fashionable at the same time.
As always, I hope you’ve enjoyed. I wanted to keep this post short and sweet, because obviously you’re most likely busy with your festivities today. Thanks for joining me, dear readers. I wish you the happiest of holidays.

Have a beautiful week.
